Lebanon/Arsal Emergency Appeal

Through our winter aid campaign, we are providing food parcels, fuel, blankets, mattresses, and winter clothing to Syrian refugees near the Turkish border and our brothers and sisters in Yemen and Gaza. We are also supporting our Syrian refugee brothers and sisters who have sought safety in Lebanon, ensuring they are not forgotten. With the support of our generous donors, tens of thousands of Syrian families struggling to survive in tent camps in Lebanon's Arsal region under severe winter conditions are receiving emergency humanitarian aid.

60,000 Syrian Families Struggling to Survive 

Around 60,000 Syrian families who fled the civil war in Syria, which began in 2011, have sought refuge in the eastern Lebanese city of Arsal, trying to survive in dire conditions. When winter arrives with snow and rain, life comes to a standstill. Families struggling to find fuel, facing collapsed tents from heavy snowfall, and tents flooded by melting snow are experiencing extreme hardship. The economic crisis in Lebanon has compounded their poverty, making it nearly impossible for our refugee brothers and sisters to sustain their lives. Families, desperately awaiting assistance, say their children suffer the most and that they urgently need food, bedding, blankets, and fuel.

From Homes to Tents

As the Syrian war enters its 13th year, tens of thousands of families who abandoned everything they had are striving to survive in Arsal, Lebanon, now without homes or shelters. Initially, those who managed to build concrete houses had some protection from the cold and snow during winter, but life turned upside down after Lebanese authorities demolished these structures. Over 15,000 Syrian refugees are now without roofs over their heads, and winter has become even harsher in the mountainous Arsal region, where recent snowfall has made life unbearable. Tragically, just a few years ago, people in the area died from freezing, and urgent aid is needed to prevent a repeat of such a humanitarian disaster. With 9 out of 10 Syrian families living in extreme poverty, food and shelter are of critical importance.
