The Federation of Associations that Value Humanity (IDDEF) has mobilized to heal the wounds after the magnitude 6 earthquake that struck the eastern province of Kunar in Afghanistan. IDDEF teams in the country are working tirelessly to participate in search and rescue operations to reach those trapped under the rubble, while also assisting with burial procedures and delivering clean water, tents, blankets, and hot meals to the victims.

In a statement from IDDEF, it was said: “According to initial reports, 850 people lost their lives and more than 2,500 were injured in the magnitude 6 earthquake in the eastern Afghan province of Kunar. We continue to stand by our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan. In the first stage, we are providing all the support we can in both search and rescue operations and humanitarian relief efforts. As it is a mountainous region, roads have been closed due to landslides, so operations are being carried out by helicopters. As search and rescue efforts continue and the toll rises, we pray to Allah for mercy on those who lost their lives and a swift recovery for the injured. From the very first moments of the earthquake, our teams have been working to heal the wounds of our friend and brother country Afghanistan by delivering water, hot meals, tents, and blankets.”
