Health Screening by IDDEF in Guinea-Bissau

Health Screening by IDDEF in Guinea-Bissau
IDDEF, with a team of five volunteer doctors from Türkiye, conducted health screenings for hundreds of people in Guinea-Bissau.

The Federation of Associations that Value Humanity (IDDEF) addressed the health needs of the local population in the West African country of Guinea-Bissau through a health screening initiative. This important health service was carried out by a team of five doctors and healthcare professionals from Türkiye.

IDDEF’s medical team traveled to Guinea-Bissau to promote the nationwide free medical examinations project initiated by Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo. The team conducted various examinations, check-ups, and treatments, collaborating with local doctors to conduct assessments. In addition to providing treatment services, the IDDEF team also trained local healthcare personnel, contributing to the establishment of a sustainable healthcare system.

Health screenings were conducted at the Military Hospital of Guinea-Bissau and the Simao Mendes National Hospital, where hundreds of people's health conditions were evaluated and necessary treatments administered. The residents of this country, where access to basic health services is limited, expressed their gratitude to IDDEF.

IDDEF released a statement saying, “In Guinea-Bissau, where we conduct educational, humanitarian aid, and permanent work projects, we conducted health screenings for babies, children, adults, and the elderly, covering individuals from ages. We provided free medical examinations for needy families, supplied medications, and treated them together with local doctors. Our efforts aimed to address the health issues of our brothers and sisters in this resource-limited country and improve their quality of life. Our medical team formed strong bonds with the local community, offering comprehensive services to meet their needs. Through these health screenings, we aimed to address immediate health problems and achieve long-term improvements. We understand the significant importance of our ongoing hospital construction and health screenings in Guinea-Bissau, a country with one of the highest maternal and child mortality rates in Africa.”

IDDEF continues the construction of a complex on 25 acres in the capital, Bissau, which includes a mosque with a capacity of 5,000 people, a residential specialization school for 80 people, women’s health, maternity, and pediatric clinic units, and a hospital. The complex also features a closed bazaar with 24 shops.
