Humanitarian Aid from IDDEF to Afghans Deported from Iran

Humanitarian Aid from IDDEF to Afghans Deported from Iran
IDDEF provides food, drinking water, shelter, and transportation assistance to Afghan migrants deported by Iran to help them reach Kabul.

Iran has begun mass deportations of Afghan citizens living within its borders. In recent weeks, over half a million Afghans have been sent back to their homeland, with Herat—one of the first entry points for the deported—witnessing the passage of thousands daily. The Federation of Associations that Value Humanity (IDDEF) has mobilized in Herat to bring hope to migrants enduring this humanitarian crisis.

IDDEF teams are on the ground at the first reception point, welcoming Afghan migrants crossing the border and distributing emergency humanitarian aid. Thousands of individuals—including families with children, the elderly, and the sick—are in urgent need of basic necessities such as shelter, food, and medical care. IDDEF is distributing food packages, clean drinking water, medical assistance, and shelter materials to address these needs.

Despite the uncertainty and harsh conditions in the region, IDDEF is not only providing basic aid but also helping facilitate the migrants’ transition to safer areas. In this scope, buses are being arranged to safely transport families from Herat to the capital, Kabul.

In a statement from IDDEF, which stands by Afghan migrants, it said:

“In a world where oppression and injustice show no signs of ending, a new humanitarian tragedy is unfolding at the Iran-Afghanistan border. Iran has deported over half a million Afghans, marking one of the largest forced migrations in recent years. With the support of our generous donors, IDDEF is meeting the urgent needs of our Afghan brothers and sisters during their border crossing process and providing them with safe transportation. Our teams are closely monitoring developments on the ground, and our support continues without interruption.”
