The Federation of Associations that Value Humanity (IDDEF) has carried out another meaningful event in Albania, a country with deep historical and cultural ties to Turkey. As part of the program held in the city of Elbasan, 140 children were circumcised, reviving a Sunnah of the Prophet that had nearly been forgotten in the country.

The circumcision ceremony, supported by the volunteer medical team of the Doctors Worldwide Association, was conducted in a sterile environment and under local anesthesia. The children’s eager anticipation turned into a joyful celebration with their families.
In a statement made by IDDEF, it was said: “We were in Albania to revive a forgotten Sunnah of the Prophet. In Elbasan, an ancient part of our cultural geography, we completed our circumcision ceremonies with the support of the volunteer medical team from the Doctors Worldwide Association and stood by the families who could not afford circumcision. While performing circumcisions for 140 children, we turned their anxious waiting into a festive occasion.”

With the support of philanthropists, this year’s circumcision event was held for the fifth time and is becoming a traditional initiative organized by IDDEF. Through this meaningful project, carried out every year in African and Balkan countries, children are circumcised safely and one of the significant practices of Islam is kept alive.

Donors can contribute to the “Circumcision Ceremony Project” by making a FAST/EFT/money transfer to the relevant account numbers on the website www.iddef.org, by visiting İDDEF branches located in various provinces and districts of Turkey, or by contacting the call center at 0212 6210065. They can also cover the circumcision cost of 1,000 TL, which includes the surgical procedure, gift clothing, and a meal offering.
