Initiating its activities with the principles of sustainability and persistence, İDDEF started its biosand filter project in the first Philippines.

Biosan filters, which purify contaminated water by 99% of bacteria and viruses into drinking water, have removed the water shortage for many years. The IDDEF (Federation of Humanitarian Associations) distributed 60 biosand filters to the families in Zamboanga, Philippines in the first place.

The project includes areas that suffer from heavy rain periods but suffer from poor water supply due to financial impossibilities. South Asia is targeted to be implemented in the Philippines, India and Cambodia, in Equatorial Africa in Guinea, Ghana, Nigeria in southern and Uganda.

The project, which has already started in the Philippines, considers India to be the second country. An average of 100 units of Biosand Filter is planned to be distributed on an average basis every month.
