IDDEF has finalized this monumental project, which ensures the legacy of Mahmud Efendi (Q.S.), who passed away in 2022 after dedicating nearly a century of his life to the service of Islam and the education of thousands of students across Turkey and the world. This initiative provided clean drinking and utility water to thousands of people struggling with water scarcity.
The opening ceremony for the 1001st water well and the project’s closing program was held in the city of Toro in Ethiopia. Attendees included Mahmud Şevket Ustaosmanoğlu, Muhammed Fatih Ustaosmanoğlu, Abdulhalik Ustaosmanoğlu, İsmet Ustaosmanoğlu, Mehmet Turan, Muhammed Taşören, Abdurrahman Okçuoğlu, and Furkan Zulkar Yıldız.
IDDEF Board Members and a delegation from İsmailağa, who traveled from Turkey to Ethiopia, participated in the inauguration ceremony and engaged in various visits and meetings. The delegation also attended the graduation ceremony at the Cebir Schools in Toro, presenting certificates to 32 male and 4 female students.
Additionally, the Cafer-i Tayyar Madrasa, supported by the İlkseç Foundation, was inaugurated in Worabe as part of the program. Local residents, regional officials, and religious leaders attended the opening ceremony.
IDDEF's longstanding water project has been implemented in villages with limited access to clean water, contributing to healthier living conditions and alleviating the burden of carrying water for the local population.
In a statement, IDDEF said: "We have completed our project to open 1001 water wells in the name of Mahmud Efendi (Q.S.). This project, realized with the support of our donors, not only fulfills the basic need for water but also fosters unity and solidarity. It will immortalize the name of Mahmud Efendi while bringing joy and relief to the lands of the Ummah. The wells will provide great convenience to students in madrasas, worshippers in mosques, and the local population with access to drinking and utility water. We pray that the wells opened in 21 countries across Africa and Asia bring blessings to humanity and all living beings."
