IDDEF Heals the Wounds of the Landslide Disaster in Guinea
IDDEF teams are taking part in relief efforts in the regions affected by the landslide caused by heavy rainfall in the West African country of Guinea.

In the West African country of Guinea, a landslide caused by heavy rainfall near the capital Conakry, in the Maneah region, has led to numerous deaths and injuries. The Federation of the Associations that Value Humanity (IDDEF) is on the ground to help heal the wounds of families who lost their homes and loved ones, and to support search and rescue efforts.

According to a statement made on Thursday by the National Emergency Management Agency of Guinea, the incident occurred in Maneah, a rural commune in the Coyah Region, 50 kilometers from the capital Conakry. Around 20 people lost their lives and dozens were injured in the disaster. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing in the area.

The collapse that occurred after the heavy rainfall in the region follows last year’s record-level floods in West Africa, which caused the deaths of more than 1,000 people and displaced hundreds of thousands.
